The Durrow Scarecrow Festival is now in its 9th year. Nominated twice for ‘Best Festival’ in the Irish Times Ticket Awards, the festival is fast becoming one of national acclaim. We strive to improve our festival to ensure all our visitors enjoy the events as much as we enjoy providing them.
Every year during the festival planning phase, we listen to and take on board many of our visitor’s ideas on how to improve our events. We understand we need to stay ahead of the times so as to capture the imaginations of both the young and the old and in so doing, we are helping create happy memories of Durrow for years to come.
The Durrow Scarecrow Festival can only happen with the help and support of our sponsors and volunteers and as always we would like to thank them for everything they do. Community based work is successful only if the community itself is on board, and thankfully this has never been in doubt here in Durrow.
While we are proud to be in a position to provide the festival and all its’ ancillary events to our community and visitors from afar, at the core of what we do is our passion for developing Durrow for the next generations and beyond.
Fundraising, by its very nature, is a difficult game and every cent raised during this time is placed firmly back into the village to complete on-going projects and to begin planning for new initiatives. Thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraising over the past years, and know that your support is invaluable to and appreciated by the Durrow Development Forum and the people of Durrow.
The highlight of the festival is of course the All-Ireland Scarecrow Championship in which hundreds of scarecrows from the four corners of Ireland and even further afield will compete to win a prize. With a prize fund of €3,000 competition will, as always, be fierce!
And so, once again for the 9th year, we welcome you to Durrow to our annual Scarecrow Festival. Enjoy with us, a week of uninhibited imagination, creativity, music, food and fun and above all enjoy the scarecrows created with your laughter in mind!
