Man of Aran Fudge are back with us for the second time at the Scarecrow Festival on the first Sunday the 29th July. Don’t miss out as this has proved to be a very popular stall selling some of the best fudge around with 24 flavours almost all of which are gluten free.

Originally from the island of Inis Oírr, Tomás Póil is the man behind Man of Aran Fudge. Treats were rare when he was young and greatly treasured – he has brought his childhood memories into making over 24 different flavours of cream and butter fudge. Now based in Co Meath, Tomás travels to events all over Ireland with Man of Aran Fudge.

Speltbakers bake their debut at the Durrow Scarecrow Festival

A scarecrow likes nothing better than a good feed of bread, and he likes to scare the crows away from getting at it.

That’s why we are delighted to have Speltbakers at this year’s Scarecrow Festival in Durrow, Co Laois in the heart of Ireland and we are looking forward to enjoying their wonderful delights.

Speltbakers is a small family run business and they just love to bake, they started out in business back in 2010 in the family kitchen and in 2013 with grant aid from Kilkenny Leader Partnership turned an old unused shed into a bakehouse. From selling a couple of loaves in Glasrai and Goodies in Gowran in 2010, they now stock lots of shop in the Kilkenny, Carlow and Waterford area.

Early hours, long hours but the most productive and creative job, they are currently recruiting if you are interested! Give them a shout!

Like so many of the other wonderful food and craft providers who will be at the festival, they show what can be done with a little enthusiasm and no little creativity.
